About Dan Hickey

I am a highly motivated and task-oriented professional with demonstrated experience in advising/coaching, program and project development. I keep a positive, solution-focused attitude and seek to provide an opportunity to create meaningful experiences by utilizing my proven ability to build rapport with diverse individuals and groups, and incorporating my talents in critical thinking and problem solving. With over 27 successful years in higher education, I have focused on college transition and academic success. I have experience in teaching first-year students and supporting students who struggle academically with study and time management strategies. Since 2011 I have lead a team of professionals and oversee several services and programs including; Academic Coaching; Academic Success Courses; Workshops; the department online presence; and the hiring of adjunct/contract employees. My interest in working in higher education and with college-aged students stems from my time with Up with People. Through this organization, I gained a niche in coordination and education. Through coordinating community service projects, I found value in creating meaningful experiences. Since, I have committed to supporting students, colleagues, and team members in creating and having meaningful experiences.
