About Dan Howe

Dedicated Tech Lead with 15+ years of experience across multiple sectors, focused on software development. My journey has also allowed me to delve into various other responsibilities, from systems analysis to software product management and devops, as both a leader/mentor and direct contributor alike. With a robust academic foundation in mathematics, physics, and computer science, I pride myself on bringing a unique analytical perspective to problem-solving. To echo Tim Peters:"Simple is better than complex, complex is better than complicated." My goal is to distill intricate technical challenges into simple, actionable strategies for business success. The tech: I've been using Ruby and Rails since 2008, in addition to PHP and Laravel. I've also been using Javascript for many years, working with Node.js, Vue.js and React Native. At various times I've also worked with C/Objective-C, Perl and Python. On the architecture side: MySQL, Google BigQuery, Docker & Kubernetes, can easily navigate my way around a Unix/Linux system. Other fun facts: Open source aficionado, my first open source contribution was back in 2004 supplying patches to the Rosegarden Midi Sequencer. I've also made contributions to the Laravel Framework caching layer. Proud dad of two and a sustainability, urbanism and permaculture enthusiast.
