30 years of managerial and engineering roles within the storage and consumer electronics industries encompassing the following stages of the product lifecycle: product definition, architecture, development, product transition to manufacturing, increasing manufacturing yields and field support through EOL. Being in the driver's seat or in the lab in front of scopes and debuggers are both the norm. A hands-on type of engineer/manager that digests a full encompassing view of the product under development. In a managerial role, it allows one to understand the challenges that are being experienced by the engineers and how to help them succeed on-time and on-budget. Conversely, in the engineering role, it allows one to systemically approach the tasks at hand and how to convey progress and needs to their managers such that the product succeeds on-time and on-budget. Diverse knowledge in hardware design, firmware development, electro-mechanical systems, product lifecycle management and systems engineering. Recently, focus has been on IoT and IIot - from edge computing to the end nodes (sensors, mechatronics, data sources). This encompasses securing end nodes (secure boot and data channels), designing low-powered end nodes that can operate on coin cells for years, secure wireless links (LoRaWan, BLE, NBIoT), and edge computing allowing M2M distributed control schemas as well as reduced data transmissions to cloud hosted analytics and device management.
