About Dan Lloyd

I’m Dan. I sometimes get referred to as Daniel, Danny or Dan Dan the till man but for this exercise just Dan is fine. I was honoured with one of the above aliases due to my experience working in the EPoS industry for the last 12ish years (EPoS means tills in pubs and shops but don’t feel bad for asking, most people do). I grew up always wanting to be a police officer, I never really had an aptitude or interest in anything computery, the title of “the family IT guy” belonged to my dad or older brother. One day, the family business needed my help so I stepped up and was given a crash course in EPOS. I started to fall in love with what I was doing, took on more responsibility and I now manage the business day to day. My new found love for tech kept evolving and it quickly turned into a hobby outside of work where I learned the fundamentals of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It didn’t take long for me to start tinkering with Raspberry PIs and Micro:bits where I picked up Python. I had caught the bug (love a cheeky pun!). I saw how fun learning to code could be and thought everyone should give it a try. That’s when I volunteered as a coding mentor, signed up as a STEM Ambassador and became an Enterprise Advisor for a local school. Fast forward through Covid where I picked up a lot of life lessons. It was an eye opener to how we’re living and I went on a mission to make changes. That gave life to my own little veg garden and a new passion in sustainable living. I founded Eco Class with the vision of working with schools, businesses, families and anyone else that wants to become more sustainable. It’s new, it’s exciting and I can’t wait to watch it grow.
