About Dan Mathewson

I have been a mechanical engineer for over eight years. On my first year, I work at NASA on the LADEE (Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer) satellite, designing CG models and in-flight thruster testing systems. After NASA, I returned to graduate school to complete my Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho. My thesis project while in school was the creation of a robotic platform called Band-Beesten for the marching band's drum set. After graduate school I started my career at Electroimpact Inc. and have been there since. One of my first projects was the creation of manufacturing aids for airplane assembly lines to full assembly lines for the E2 passenger jet. I was also a member of the team in Sao Paulo, Brazil responsible for the "Cradle to Grave" on-site assembly line installation, a five year project. I also worked on an jet work platform for one year. I am now a member of Electroimpact's robotics division responsible for "turn key" robots that drill and install fasteners during different stages for aircraft production. I am an active runner, a member of the Seattle Geals hurling team. I am also a mentor for the local high school First robotics team, assisting them in pursuing there dreams to become an engineer. Hobbies I enjoy include 3D printing, home remodeling, working on cars, and playing most any sport that I can including hiking, rock climbing, Gaelic football.
