About Dan McTavish

Dan McTavish is a visionary young designer and thinker passionate about the built environment and the agency of design in society. Having worked with internationally significant architecture and research practices, Dan has collaborated within many complex multi-disciplinary teams, delivering innovative and inspirational projects. Dan approaches every design and research question, from those related to building to the geospatialization of data, through a methodology grounded in critical, yet productive, analysis and inquiry. By striving to understand all of the functional, cultural, historical, political, economic and environmental layers that structure a project, Dan aims to produce deeply embedded, durable and timeless designs. Hard working and motivated, Dan is a dedicated team member and a thoughtful critic, having taught graduate and undergraduate architecture courses and studios. Dan is an effective collaborator within a range of design team structures focused on realizing the full potential of projects – from small scale objects to regional systems. Dan has a strong working knowledge of Rhino 5, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects, ESRI ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint and possesses knowledge of Revit having utilized it in a comprehensive studio setting. Dan is an avid sailor, having competed nationally in many regattas and represented Canada as a junior on the international stage.
