About Dan P.

I’m a multi-disciplinary designer with a background in art and theory. Currently, I work as a Senior Designer at Google, solving design problems and generating creative ways to think about the conversation around the problem. At Google, I was the lead motion designer on the Pixel phone and Android OS, a platform that serves over 2 billion people globally. I’ve received 15 patents for my design work. Most recently, I’ve been working within a horizontal future team, which reaches across smartphones, TVs, cars, laptops, wearables, etc. The work is akin to speculative design, although we call it “design strategy” because it is grounded in translating research into alternative and provocative new ideas that point the way to a long-term vision. I received a BA in Illustration and Motion from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, but really ended up somewhere between the Fine Art and Graphic Design departments by the time I graduated.
