About Dan Read
My background was agriculture but then swiftly turned to healthcare. I began as a theatre orderly before training to become a health care assistant, followed by an assistant theatre practitioner after a course by city and guilds. I then began my journey with Coventry University to become an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP). My particular interests are in orthopaedics including hip and knee arthroplasty. I also enjoy working in ophthalmics. I have a versatile skill set and scrub for many specialities whilst working with a variety of members of the MDT. As a surgical first assistant I play a crucial role in the perioperative journey of the patient I have SFA experience in all specialities in my current role mainly orthopaedics but also gynaecology laparoscopic and plastics.
