I'm remarkably fortunate to fill my days with four passions that provide challenge and satisfaction - Teaching at Rotman where I'm inspired by remarkable students - Work with life altering charities in Toronto and Africa - Daily workouts with long cycling rides when the weather is warm - Some new projects to add challenge. Click See More for details 1. I teach incredibly bright, motivated students in four programs and help them launch careers. In 2022 I was privileged to be voted Best Prof by the graduating MBA class 2. I help seven charities do life altering work, five in Toronto and two in Africa. I wake up looking forward to my 7 am fitness class and in warm weather a 24 km bike ride, with 130 km on weekends for lunch with my youngest daughter and grandson Lucas. Since he was born in 2023, Lucas has brought joy and laughter. So excited to watch him grow. Having published one award winning book, in my spare time I've completed a thriller and a guide for graduates starting their first jobs. Now to get them published! More on Rotman At Rotman, I'm surrounded by outstanding faculty and so many whip smart and hugely accomplished and ambitious students. I'm just glad that I didn't have to compete against them when I did my MBA many years ago! Ratings for my courses have led to awards for teaching excellence.(In truth the award for Fintech Marketing should go to founders of fintech scaleups who launch each class with inspiring origin stories.) As well I teach Executive MBA and Commerce courses and also teach Intro Marketing to 300 Arts students. And more about my charity work: My work with Rotman's students gives me lots of intellectual stimulation, but seven not for profits in Toronto and Africa provide nourishment for the soul.* I chair a group that sponsors refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Africa * I help raise funds for two community meal programs that welcome and serve meals to 300 guests.* For a charity in Tanzania that rescues street children, I've led a team that's raised $2 million from Toronto's financial industry.* Another charity on whose board I sat works with the poorest villages in rural Uganda and has helped one million villagers to permanently escape poverty. Remarkable! Early in my career, I built and sold two startups and wrote a bestselling book for financial advisors that won awards. Later I was recruited to lead the turnaround and subsequent sale of a public company with 3500 advisors, Exciting and rewarding at the time but trivial compared to the enjoyment and meaning that fills my days now.
