About Dan Richards

Dan is a professional with 25 years of experience in a variety of roles related to product development, project management, and project controls. After more than a decade in product development, Dan transferred his experience to industrial mining where he worked on self-managed design and construction projects. This included a four-year role as cost lead for an owner’s team for self-managed and EPCM contract strategies for a greenfield mine during Feasibility. Most recently, he has had a role as cost controller for an EPCM consultant during construction of a greenfield mine. Throughout his work on mining projects, he has had opportunities to contribute as a secondary responsibility to project engineering, estimating, scheduling, contract administration, change management, and development and documentation of project management processes. Dan has worked with a wide variety of software, including SAP Enterprise software, ARES Prism for cost management, UMT360 integrated project management, and Meridian Prolog and Primavera Contract Manager for contract management. His comfort with software has lead him to roles in training, testing, an interface between the user group and ET, and a subject-matter expert on an initiative to integrate multiple systems for data-sharing. Prior to his work on project teams, he held a functional management role for two groups totaling 18 staff. Dan is motivated by continuous improvement, and a desire to continually improve process and systems in the interest of team success. He approaches each project as a team effort, and is eager to facilitate understanding and communication between owner and consultant, and amongst the various functional groups contributing. Dan has been dubbed “project ambassador” by colleagues for his ability to lead a team from within in a way that capitalizes on the strength of each member and minimizes conflict.
