About Dan Rowbotham

From a young boy sweeping the floors and emptying the bins at Kenworth Engineering on my weekends and school holidays, to my current role as Managing Director, my journey through the company has been transformative and deeply rewarding.After leaving school, I immediately began a full-time apprenticeship. Over the next 10 years, I meticulously honed my skills, particularly in turning, starting with manual techniques and soon after graduated to having a CNC lathe to call my own. Tragically, my father passed away in June 2015 when I was just 26. This marked a new chapter for me, having to step up to oversee the family business.With an incredible team by my side, we turned what at that particular time was a struggling, old-school engineering firm into a cutting-edge precision machine shop. We've made enormous strides in modernizing our operations. In eight short years, we've quadrupled our revenue and expanded our staff from 8 to over 20 across a two-shift system.One of our major accomplishments has been the complete overhaul of our machinery. We've replaced every piece of equipment with brand-new, state-of-the-art machine tools from some of the worlds leading machine tool manufacturers.Building on our hardware advancements, we've also implemented the best CAM software to seamlessly program and simulate our state-of-the-art machines, optimizing both speed and accuracy.We set out and achieved our ISO9001 registration and now proudly serve diverse and fascinating sectors, from Food & Drink to the fast-paced world of Formula 1.We are in an exciting phase of designing a new, purpose-designed facility to house our growing operations, and to support our extraordinary growth into the future.I also love sharing behind-the-scenes snippets of what we're working on and how we're doing it so stay tuned for more updates, and feel free to connect if you're interested in our journey or if you're in a similar industry.It honestly feels like we’re just getting started, and I'm eager to see where this journey takes us next.
