About Dan Sellers

I am a dedicated professional in the field of law enforcement with over a decade of experience. I have served with the High Point Police Department since 2009. I am currently a Detective with the Robbery/Homicide Section of the Violent Crimes Unit. Prior to this assignment, I was a Field Training Officer for six years. In 2014 I was awarded the Advanced Law Enforcement Training certificate. I also served as the Head Advisor of my department's Law Enforcement Explorer post for two years and am currently a member of the Peer Support Team. Before becoming a Police Officer, I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and a research associate at UNCG. I worked on and co-authored numerous criminal justice projects using qualitative and quantitative methods. My primary responsibility involved Project SAFE Neighborhoods, a federal gun and gang initiative.I have a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from UNC-Charlotte, a Master's Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology from UNC-Greensboro, and a Master's Certificate in Applied Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have conducted internships with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the High Point Police Department.My professional goal is to further my career in the field of criminal investigations. I also have some experience in adjunct teaching on the collegiate level which I would like to continue in the near future. In 2021, I was promoted to the administrative rank of Master Police Officer
