About Dan Short

Engineering leader with 20+ years of experience building high-performing teams in mission-driven, product-focused organizations. I build resilient orgs that ship with empathy, clarity, and a bias for impact. At Virtuous, I’ve helped transform engineering delivery, increasing velocity by 40% YoY while driving key initiatives in security, staffing, and product development. At InVision, I led integrations with Microsoft, Zoom, and Atlassian, and was known as a “culture carrier” across the org. At CoStar Group I spent 13 years building a team of 5 into a world-class engineering org delivering customer value at land.com.I help teams build the right thing, the right way and explain to stakeholders why it matters. I simplify complexity for engineers, translate outcomes for execs, and create environments where people do their best work. My leadership style is pragmatic, data-informed, and people-first. I still light up every time we deliver something that makes a customer’s life better.I’m committed to a culture of collaboration, communication, and continuous learning. My goal is to help companies build world-class software, inspire high-trust teams, and make a meaningful difference for the people building the tech and the people depending on it.
