About Dan Solla

Joined the Military my senior year of high school and served as an Infantry Rifleman with 1/36 INF of the 1st Armored Division out of Friedberg, Germany. Deployed to combat in Iraq 2003 and 2004. Graduated college from UT with a BA in Political Science and Law School with a JD from University of Tennessee College of Law, and worked in family law in Knoxville before moving to Atlanta and working for a bit in Bankruptcy Law. Stopped working in the legal field altogether in 2015 and began a pathway working in recovery, veterans justice, general veterans services, community outreach and marketing. I now manage the Georgia and Southeast efforts of a large national non profit that’s provides direct services to combat veterans like residential treatment, interim housing, support groups, peer mentoring and recreational and experiential learning and team building adventures. I create and facilitate support groups for combat trauma and provide peer mentoring and recruit and staff veteran mentors for Veterans Treatment Courts and for struggling veterans. I do outreach to other community organizations and behavioral health facilities to identify and develop relationships with struggling veterans. I market the foundation through the use of social media and grassroots networking at events and forums throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia. I do outreach to elected officials and government agencies. I serve as the Mentor Coordinator for the Piedmont Judicial Circuits Veterans Treatment Court and also work directly with Hall and Gwinnett County VTCs to provide Support Groups for Participants. I work directly with the Incarcerated Veteran Inmate population, facilitating weekly trauma support groups inside the jail. I have received formal training in Veterans Treatment Court practices and mentoring through the NADCP and Justice for Vets. My personal passion is facilitating and encouraging personal and spiritual growth, as well as trauma and addiction recovery through outdoor expeditions, team building challenges and experiential learning activities.
