About Dan Spain

Dan Spain is the owner of The Elm restaurant in downtown La Grange, Illinois. It is a two story, sq. ft. restaurant with an elevator, three private event spaces, and a 2,700 sq. ft. outdoor rooftop patio. With Dan's background in finance and development and his wife Caitlin's eye for design, they developed The Elm. The Elm opened in June, 2020 and has quickly become a place to gather by locals and people throughout the Chicagoland area. The Elm is a neighborhood gem with a big city vibe and has a potential occupancy of almost 600 people. From 2010 to 2016, Dan specialized in new construction development projects and investment sales on the north side of Chicago and Western suburbs with CONLON Real Estate. In 2017, Dan transitioned to Coldwell Banker in La Grange where he continues to hold his real estate license. In 2014, Dan obtained his general contracting license and became his own general contractor. Prior to 2010, Dan was a business development officer with Standard Bank (now Old National Bank) providing financing to developers on small to mid sized developments on the North side of Chicago. He has a finance degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
