About Dan Wood

I began working in the industry in 2003 as a Civil Engineering apprentice after completing high school, first completing a BTEC national certificate at the National Construction College Bircham Newton and then on to complete a HND in Civil Engineering. I completed my educational foundation on a block release basis, meaning I was able to gain valuable site experience in between residential college blocks working as a trainee engineer. From then I have gone on through the ranks of Asst. Engineer, Site Engineer, Section Engineer, Sub Agent, Site Manager, Site Agent, Project Manager, Snr PM and most recently have been promoted to Contracts Manager for Milestone Infrastructure. I've been fortunate enough to work on an array of civil engineering and highways projects with values between £1m and £180m in a variety of disciplines including land remediation, flood alleviation, steel frame structures, guided busway, smart motorways and highways (low and high speed network). What drives me to do what we do, is a want to help improve my surroundings and unlock the benefits this has on the wider environment. I also love to solve problems which is fortunate considering most of what we do is figure things out and then manage the impact of the inevitable change that occurs! I think as construction professionals we are in a unique position which often gives us the power to have a huge impact on our environment and the economy, which is why it comes with a great responsibility to ensure that impact is positive!
