Background
About Dana Cooper
Many designers and apparel companies struggle with sourcing sustainable and green solutions that are align with their vision and innovative designs while saving the environment. Here are some examples: 1. Lack of access and variety. Most sustainable fashion brands specialize in e-commerce and, unless you’re lucky enough to live in a major city with a showroom or have a fair trade shop that sources sustainable clothing, you’ll have to do quite a bit of research to find what you’re looking for. Price point: High prices for sustainably sourced and ethically made clothing limit the potential customers in the sustainable fashion market, which keeps production costs high and slows the rate of change within the fashion industry. Designing knowing how much the fashion industry directly impacts the planet can be challenging, certain materials are no longer an option to consider. 70 million trees are cut down each year to make our clothes. 90% of Mongolia's surface is facing the threat of desertification, principally due to the breeding of cashmere goats. 85% of human made debris on the shorelines around the world are microfibers. Every time we wash a synthetic garment (polyester, nylon, etc), about 1,900 individual microfibers are released into the water, making their way into our oceans. Scientists have discovered that small aquatic organisms ingest those microfibers. These are then eaten by small fish which are later eaten by bigger fish, introducing plastic in our food chain. We have been collaborating with our clients for over 10+ years to provide innovative, high quality and unique design solutions, creating sustainable and forever-lasting products for the future. If you are looking for new and sustainable design solutions with flair, we are constantly exploring and experimenting with new sustainable materials and technology. We use organic cotton, ethically sourced regenerated fabrics, recycled textiles, while excluding fur and leather and recyclable packaging. Designer with more than fifteen years of success leading the creative development and execution of print and digital design for fashion and publishing markets. Specialties: Illustration / fashion print design for apparel, product design and development, art and photo direction, publication design. dana@danacooper.net I 441.737.8051
