About Dana Kok

I'm a microbiologist with a passion for bringing people together to tackle big challenges - especially antimicrobial resistance (AMR). I've worked across research, education, and science communication, with a growing focus on collaboration, impact, and engagement. What excites me most is the Czech Platform on Antibiotic Resistance - an initiative I co-founded to connect students and professionals across health, environment, veterinary science, industry, and policy. It’s a volunteer-led, interdisciplinary effort rooted in the One Health approach. We organize events, foster dialogue, and build bridges between research and real-world impact. I previously worked as a researcher and mentor at UCT Prague, where I supported the next generation of scientists and helped shape programmes that promote learning, networking, and scientific exchange. My background is in environmental microbiology, with expertise in:• Water quality & reuse• AMR in the environment• Wastewater-based epidemiology What drives me:• Taking on new challenges and learning by doing• Turning ideas into collaborative action• Clear communication and creative problem-solving• Exploring sustainability and citizen science I believe science thrives when it's shared, inclusive, and connected to society’s needs. Let’s connect!
