About Dana Oconnor

I work as an administrative assistant at FORVIS and started in June of 2021 (with BKD before we became FORVIS in June 2022). I am responsible for gathering, sorting, and distributing the mail daily, and ensuring the FedEx shipments are labeled to go out in the afternoons. I help cover the reception desk when needed (using Zoom phone, previously Akkadian, but I also have experience with multi-line phones) and maintain the breakrooms. I help out where I can and love to do the printing and binding projects requested (I've had friends compare me to Santiago from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I love to be organized in my work)! I am responsible for generating a handful of monthly reports and maintaining stock of office supplies. I work in Excel and Adobe a bit, I'm no master at them, but I do pretty well! I have been accepted and admitted into Missouri State University to pursue my bachelor's of science in information technology cybersecurity and start classes in October of 2023. Before FORVIS, I spent just over 6 years working for NC Machinery in Alaska as a parts clerk doing many clerical tasks including sorting, filing, and sending mail, copy/scan/fax documents, logging information to spreadsheets, creating spreadsheets, tracking freight, processing cash returns, ordering/receiving/stocking novelty items, answering multi-line phones and routing to appropriate personnel, researching and resolving freight issues, maintaining communication with many vendors, and helping coworkers anytime I was able. I am highly organized, learn quickly, and feel I do well in an office setting. Previous to office work, I have about 13 years of experience in various kitchen settings. I have worked in fast food, as a short order cook, in casual dining, in fine dining, in institutional kitchens (hospital and daycare), in a buffet style restaurant, in a bakery, and even helped with a catering job or two. I also attended culinary school in 2007/2008. I still absolutely love to work with food, but it's reserved more for family and friends now, instead of a career.
