Danby Bloch was chairman of London wealth managers and IFAs Helm Godfrey until September 2023. He has been in the financial services industry for over 40 years. Between 2010 and 2016 he was a non-executive director of wrap operators Nucleus Financial Group. Danby was editorial director and co-founder of Taxbriefs Financial Publishing and is now a consultant. Taxbriefs produces several of the UK’s Chartered Insurance Institute’s examination learning texts as well as customised content for firms of financial planners and accountants. Taxbriefs and Platforum, as well as Money Marketing for which he has written on a regular basis are now part of Metropolis International Group. Danby was educated at Tonbridge School and the University of Besancon in France. He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Wadham College Oxford. He has been married to Sandy since 1968. He has two grown up children – Hester and Adam - and a granddaughter, Liberty Bowden and two grandsons - Rafe Bowden and Leon Bloch. Danby has written four books on financial planning and very many articles for the UK national and trade press. He is also a regular lecturer and trainer on tax and financial subjects. He is a Patron of the Friends of the Pitt Rivers Museum Oxford. He was Pro-Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University until 2011, which awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2004. He was Chair of the board of the Oxford Playhouse until September 2017 and is vice chair of the Equal Rights Trust. He has recently joined the board of the Picker Institute.
