About Dane Anderton

Director of Studies for the Liverpool MBA at University of Liverpool Management School. Specialism in strategy and research focus in strategic regional development. Current papers and interests in critical perspectives on place leadership and community wealth building for sustainable urban and regional development. Formerly Director of Programmes in Executive Education and Senior Lecturer in Strategy and Innovation at Alliance Manchester Business School. Responsible for the Academic Direction of the MSc Management Practice linked to the Senior Leader Degree Apprenticeship Standard, and Director of the Manchester Leadership Development Programme. In my role I worked closely with business development and engagement to enhance our understanding of business needs in current programmes and customised programmes. Held the divisions Social Responsibility Lead role and developed the pro bono Prometheus programme aimed at not for profit, community and social enterprise across Greater Manchester and the North of England. Before joining the University of Manchester I was the Director of MBA Apprenticeships at Manchester Metropolitan University. Whilst at MMU I led the curriculum design, development and delivery of degree apprenticeships at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level. In addition I held the Faculty Representative position on MMU Academic Board which advises the Vice-Chancellor on the University’s academic and other activities. My PhD was awarded by the University of Liverpool Management School, UK in 2014. Funded by the ESRC, my research examined the agglomeration and development of video game and life science/healthcare industries in the Liverpool City Region in collaboration with Liverpool Vision, an economic development agency. My current research examines place leadership in city regions and sustainable development of cities and regions.
