About Dane Bateman

I am a University of Georgia alumni where I studied mechanical engineering. Throughout my time at UGA, I have developed a passion and gained skills oriented toward the mechanical engineering field. I have been involved in engineering clubs such as the Student Aerospace Initiative, as well as non-engineering clubs such as the UGA Rugby Club. I am currently participating in the NASA 2022 Human Exploration Rover Challenge where my team and I are designing and building the steering and braking system for the University of Georgia’s entry into the competition.I am currently the Lead Mechanical Designer at SEC Automation, where we design, innovate, and manufacture automated welding systems for pipe and tubing. Throughout my time at SEC Automation, I have designed and helped develop automated machines for welding pipes and tubing, as well as tubing overlay applications. I have created detailed designs for custom machinery using Fusion 360, and I have also gained hands-on fabrication experience through as the lead operator and programmer for our CNC machine.
