About Dane Lance

Dane Lance (B.Sc.(Physics), B.E.(Mechanical Engineering), UWA) is a senior energy professional, leader and Reservoir Engineer with over 18 years’ industry experience across the asset lifecycle, with a focus on resource maturation and monetisation. Dane has been involved in exploration, appraisal, development, and M&A on four continents, providing economic and technical evaluations for investment decisions, commercial negotiations, gas sales agreement terms, and corporate and asset acquisition & divestment. Dane has worked for Woodside, Ophir (including technical evaluation of the ~$500m Ophir acquisition of Salamander) and Oil Search. This included working on several major development projects (~$12b Pluto LNG project, NWS Greater Western Flank, Vincent Infill drilling programs, and Bualuang expansion), as well as ongoing reservoir management and production optimisation. Dane has been technical representative on non-operated joint ventures producing in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico and during exploration, appraisal and concept select on Tanzania LNG (working with BG/Shell and Pavilion in conjunction with Equinor and Exxon). Dane has also been a first mover in New Technology, as a company representative at multiple joint industry projects and university research consortiums (including Stanford and Texas A&M). He has a proven history of risk management and demonstrating project value to justify implementing novel software and hardware. An early adopter implemental in cloud transformation projects and embracing data science and analytics. A leader in best practice strategic decision making under uncertainty.
