About Dane Wagner

Bienvenidos! Welcome to my page! I’m Dane, an upbeat, personable and bilingual professional with a background in Higher Education and Student Affairs with an academic career in Spanish and Communication (Health Communication/Public Relations). My passions include education, working with diverse populations, learning about languages, cultures and customs, and inspiring others to succeed. My professional experience consists of over six years working at higher education institutions like Western Carolina University (WCU), North Carolina State University (NCSU), and Stanford University. I have worked four years in university housing at WCU and one summer for Stanford University’s Summer Session. At NCSU, I taught as an Instructor of Record for an entire academic year. In total, I have managed three residential facilities, supervised three teams of Resident Assistants, taught four sections of Spanish, while serving various student populations such as international, transfer, first-year, and upperclass students. Whether I’m supervising a team or teaching a class, I always lead with my compassion for people. Regarding my academic background, I hold a Master's in Foreign Languages and Literatures with a focus in Spanish from NCSU, and I hold a B.A in Spanish and a B.S. in Health Communication from WCU. For my Master’s Culminating Project, I focused on Teacher Attitudes about Gender Inclusive Language in Spanish. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on a Health Awareness Campaign addressing vape usage amongst first-year populations, as well as a Crisis Communication plan for an LGBTQ+ establishment. I also studied abroad in Valencia, Spain. Through my combination of professional, academic experiences, I have developed a versatile set of skills, particularly in administration, supervision, education, and communication.
