About Dani Carrillo

As the Assistant Director for the Basic Needs Center & Services office at the University of Arizona, I oversee Campus Pantry, Campus Closet, and Fostering Success. Prior to my employment at the university, I was a social worker in Southern Arizona working with youth in the foster care system. As the founding Program Coordinator for Fostering Success, I worked to support post-secondary students with foster care and/or homeless experience. Fostering Success completed a pilot year in 2017-18 and officially launched in Fall 2018. Under my leadership, Fostering Success has grown from serving 12 students during the pilot year to more than 200 undergraduates each academic year. Campus Pantry offers free supplemental groceries and Campus Closet offers free new and gently used clothing to UA students, staff, and faculty to take strides in reducing food and clothing insecurity on our campus. These student run teams operate one of the largest basic needs centers in the country and are continuously innovating to expand access to essential resources for our campus community.
