About Daniel Ackerman

I am a television editor who resides in Burbank, California. I have been editing professionally since 2005, and I have worked for all the major television networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX). The bulk of my editing credits are in reality-style programming, although I have also cut narrative films, documentaries, music videos, pitch reels, personal reels, trailers, and pilots. My most notable recent credit is as an editor, for FOX's Hell's Kitchen. I started working on that show in it's second season, and have currently worked on all but two seasons. As I write this, we are beginning season 13 of a very successful run. Although the bulk of my career, to date, has been spent in reality programming, I would love break into scripted work. In 2003, I was a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame's Film, Television & Theater program, which included critical studies, film production experience, photography classes, and acting classes. On a side note, I also own and operate a 20' jib system, capable of supporting up to 30lbs of camera equipment. After working as a camera operator at CBS's Big Brother for many seasons, and having an opportunity to work with their 24' jib system, I decided that, from time to time, it would be refreshing to take a break from editing and do some camera work again. I've already used it on two VFX shoots as of this writing, and I look forward to more opportunities to take it out in the future.
