About Daniel Anderson

Consultant psychiatrist in psycho-oncology at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester and Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts Psychotherapist and psychiatrist in private practice online and in Manchester. I have worked for 15 years in the NHS and independent sector as a consultant psychiatrist, including being a medical director and holding company director positions. I have worked with adults of all ages and developed special interests in dementia care; issues relating to sexuality and gender; liaison psychiatry and cancer care; and medically unexplained symptoms. I practice group analysis, psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, and mentalization-based therapy. I provide regular supervision to psychotherapy teams including the use of groups. I have provided organisational consultancy and coaching to teams in healthcare. PhD from University of Manchester researching the discursive registers in group analysis around sexuality and gender and their disruption using queer temporalities and postmodern geographies. Previous notable research activities include being a co-investigator for a randomised controlled trial of group therapy and mild dementia.
