About Daniel Anselment

My role is directing the HERO Public Safety Training Center. This is a new (2019)$21 million training center, constructed by the Cities of Cottage Grove and Woodbury. This facility is a a regional state-of-the-art immersive training center for police, fire, and EMS in the East Metro area of the Twin Cities. My previous role was a Training Consultant for the National Forensic Academy at the University of Tennessee's Law Enforcement Innovation Center (2014-2019). I had direct oversight over approximately 75 law enforcement subject matter experts from around the United States. I was responsible for our program delivery, development and execution of the 10-week National Forensic Academy. I was responsible for managing the laboratory, classroom facilities, outdoor shooting reconstruction and post-blast property. I was also responsible for the design and development of the Bloodstain Houses and Outdoor Forensic Training Center (OFTC) which had donated human remains on the grounds. I continue to instructor as a subject matter expert for the UT National Forensic Academy. I also am an adjunct instructor for Rasmussen University and teach law enforcement and forensic related courses. I am a licensed Police Officer with experience in investigations ranging from property crimes to personal crimes including homicides. I have experience in evidence collection/preservation as well as extensive experience in crime scene investigations to include homicides, suicides, sexual assaults, robbery, burglary, theft, motor vehicle accidents, arson, and mental health crisis. I am a Use of Force instructor and specialize in Crisis Intervention, Behavioral Threat Assessment, Bomb Detection and Surveillance, Response and Evidence Collection of a CBRNE Event and Advanced Concepts in Forensic Medicine. I am the past President of the MNIAI and currently serve as the MNIAI historian. I am past board member of the TNIAI. I am a member of ACSR and IABPA. I am the author of the 'Officer Dan' series of children's books introducing and connecting kids with police officers and forensic science. I investigated deaths in Dakota, Scott, Goodhue and Carver Counties in Minnesota. I have experience in working with healthcare professionals regarding laws and requirements surrounding a death of an individual within Minnesota. I worked as a part-time Deputy Coroner for Rice County, Minnesota.
