About Daniel Bauer

I am an internationally recognized scholar, researcher, and educator with over 20 years of experience conducting ethnographic studies in a variety of contexts throughout the United States and Latin America. I have ongoing research projects in Ecuador and Peru and my research experience covers the politics of tourism development, Indigenous politics, and resource use and culture heritage. My teaching is student-centered and emphasizes providing transformative experiences in the classroom and beyond. I routinely mentor students through honors and independent study projects, and I have worked with students in field settings in both Ecuador and Peru. Beyond my academic endeavors, I am active applied anthropologist and the Founder, President, and Project Coordinator of a 501c3 charitable foundation that focuses on education and development in rural Ecuador. I have significant experience coordinating local-level development projects, connecting underrepresented groups to international partners, and working with stakeholders to improve quality of life through initiatives that promote education, conservation, gender equality, and rural development.
