Being naturally curious, Daniel has a creative and innovative capability in strategy and design, and can synthesise ideas into things.he prefers to challenge defining a problem, not solving a perceived one. Daniel has undertaken leading strategic design roles on infrastructure projects across Australia including Sydney Light Rail, Great Western Highway Tunnels, Melbourne Airport Rail, Suburban Rail Link, Adelaide's O-Bahn Busway, Torrens to Darlington/South Road, Seaford Rail Extension, Coast to Coast Light Rail extension, Gallipoli Underpass and the Northern Connector. He is also a well known strategist, with projects including the nationally awarded City Landscape Plan for the City of Salisbury, the locally awarded Greening Port Pirie Strategy for SA Water, and the Adelaide Design Manual, the City of Adelaide's guide to create better streets and public spaces. He has authored many strategic submissions on behalf and for the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, many with the Conservation Council of SA. In 2021, he established Aurecon's Integrated Design team in South Australia to continue his passion for making greener cities and places, currently leading a large multi-disciplinary team to design the Oxford Street East Cycleway for TfNSW in Sydney. Between 2014 and 2019 he was Associate Director of Strategy and Design at the City of Adelaide which included the award winning Adelaide Design Manual, the city’s guide to creating great public spaces and streets; the Adelaide Park Lands Strategy, and the Smart Move Transport Strategy. He has also worked extensively in design practices, including his role as Principal of Hassell's Adelaide office for many years and as an emerging Landscape Architect at Sydney firm JPW and Edinburgh’s Turnbull Jeffrey Partnership. He is an active advocate for greening cities, including the following roles-Board member, Premier's Climate Change Council in South Australia -Board Member, Walking SA -Member, South Australian Design Review Panel, SA Government Architect -Member, Minister's Roundtable for the Built Environment Education Liaison Group (SA)-National Advocate, Greener Spaces Better Places -Past State President of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) SA, 2019-2023 -Past National President, AILA -Past Co-Chair of AILA's National Advocacy Committee.
