About Daniel Boehm

I held the position of CEO of MCTS for 8+ years and have over 25 years of experience in transit; entirely at the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS). Our annual budget of $160 Million delivered 1.4 million bus hours of service to the community with a fleet of 370 buses operating 18 million miles resulting in 30 million passenger rides annually (pre-pandemic). I was also responsible for managing and motivating over employees. I possess credentials expected of a CEO of a large urban transit system. Every day, I used the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform essential functions of a successful leader at a high level. I have found success in my career through a strong work ethic, perseverance, technical abilities, and an almost constant inclination towards organizational improvement. As a leader, I also use every opportunity to create a strong team around me that balances strengths of individuals in a way that benefit the team and organization overall. Fiscal realities of stagnant to declining funding required exceptionally good decision making. The process I used combined a healthy appreciation for benefit cost analyses, with a need for analytics over anecdotes, coupled to a constructive dose of 'controlling for risks' before agreeing to any major initiative. After a decision was made to proceed, we encouraged a bias towards action to ensure that projects were completed on time. MCTS was and remains a mission-driven organization. Employees are supported with resources needed to succeed, and empowered to make decisions and organizational contributions that are aligned with their departmental purpose and the MCTS mission, vision and values.
