About Daniel Boyer

The global political economy is facing an unprecedented era of change. Emerging tech is enabling new business models and increased global competition is disrupting economies worldwide. The established orthodoxy that the free flow of trade and investment will bring economic and societal benefits is being challenged. In the midst of all this change one thing remains constant – people. Over the past 20 years I have worked across government managing people, teams and organisations through change. Since starting at Austrade, I have led a major organisational transformation that resulted in the establishment of a new strategy for the agency, focused on placing the client at the centre of everything Austrade does. I've run Austrade's operations across mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, based in Beijing - through an unprecedented set of challenges from COVID to geopolitical shifts to trade tensions. I have just taken up a new role (August 2022) as Austrade's Deputy CEO, looking after our global trade and investment team. It's a role I'm thrilled and a little daunted by in equal measure!
