Background
About Daniel C.
The purpose of this open letter was to seek consideration or referral as a candidate for hire, but I have decided to accept an offer of admission to enroll at Southern California University of Health Sciences. To recap my resume in one sentence, I am a bilingual veteran with civil engineering and law degrees, a personal trainer certification, and experience as a special education teacher. I previously interviewed with district and municipal department teams, and I hope to earn confidence in my potential and ability to excel. I want to convey my commitments to positively contributing, to providing expert guidance, and to supporting colleagues. My education, received at world-class institutions, qualifies me for many positions, and I want to connect especially with government or nonprofit organizations which will appreciate my time, efforts, and contributions. The members, reputations, and values of several programs where I have been involved attest to my character and desires to make our country better. Embracing LeaderShape, Leadership Institute, and other ethics courses inspired me to spearhead a task force as a class officer to close a programming chasm between my law school’s culture and posted values. Our resolutions were adopted in 2019 by the TMSL Student Bar Association, the TMSL Student-Faculty Relations Committee, and the TMSL Faculty Senate to ultimately re-write the five values (abbreviated FICLE or C-LIFE, both of which are aspirations to mediocrity) as seven instead, spelling IMPROVE: Integrity, Mindfulness, Professionalism, Responsibility, Opportunity, Vision, and Excellence. Those with whom I worked testify I readily accept responsibilities included in “other duties as assigned”: written and oral communication, adaptability, time management, developing and implementing differentiated skills training, conducting assessments, and following federal and state laws and local administrative regulations. My various experiences outside a classroom often required wearing many hats or stepping into roles for consulting, counseling, interviewing, assisting, planning, managing, instructing, relating during conflicts, responding to situations, making and maintaining records, problem-solving, outreach, group speaking, etc. I am a self-described Swiss Army knife striving to live up to the highest ideals of exemplary citizenship. Please let me know how you suggest I follow-up to fill needs you have identified.
