About Daniel Caris

I have a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies with an emphasis in biology and a minor in economics. I was previously employed at Gonzaga University as the sustainability coordinator. In this position I had a wide variety of duties and projects. The most relevant work was as the Sustainability Coordinator at Gonzaga University. This position was running the entire sustainability department for the department. Some of the things that I was in charge of where: director of the on-campus greenhouse, student relations and outreach, running all environmental programs and develop new programs to enhance the school’s sustainable efforts. During that time, I was also invited to be one of the main speakers at the Roots conference in Spokane. Prior to my position at Gonzaga University I worked at the Training Center on native and nonnative plant distribution. In this position, I had to sight ID a vast array of plant life, record scientific data, analyze scientific data, and make restoration recommendations on our findings. In my senior year of college, I coauthor a paper about how the channelizing of streams effected decomposition rates. During this research I did a lot of drudging through half frozen rivers with bulky equipment to set up sample sites. I also did a lot of data recording and analysis.
