About Daniel Carr

I am an IT professional passionate about technology, data analytics, and building value-driven solutions. I am currently the Specialist on the Analytics team at SaskEnergy, where I lead reporting and data analysis initiatives. I leverage a variety of data sources to support decision-making and drive the organization towards its strategic goals. I have significant experience with a variety of technologies. I am particularly proficient with Microsoft software, such as Power BI and relational databases, especially SQL. I also use programming languages like Python, SQL, M, DAX, and JavaScript when applicable. I have knowledge of data engineering, including leveraging data through a variety of data sources such as data warehouses and APIs. Prior to taking on the team's Specialist role, I was a Senior Data Analyst. I created data-driven reports and solutions to improve organizational processes. I collaborated with various groups to increase efficiency in their areas. I also played a part in managing projects for the analytics team. I mentored and trained new and junior staff on the team. Before joining the Analytics team, I was a Geographic Information System Analyst with SaskEnergy. This role helped me build my data analytics skills, along with my understanding of databases and data models, while also strengthening my project management knowledge. Before my time at SaskEnergy, I owned and operated a remote sensing and data analysis business that would use fixed-wing drones to capture multi-spectral imagery data to be processed, analyzed, and delivered to agricultural clients. This venture was built on knowledge that I had acquired in my BSc from the University of Regina.
