Daniel Cetina is a Partner at Walsh, Knippen & Cetina, Chartered. He represents those seriously injured or killed due to others' negligence and fights to obtain the compensation they deserve. He handles complex civil litigation, including catastrophic personal injury, trucking, construction, product liability, medical malpractice, nursing home, automobile (including rideshare and UM/UIM), animal attack, and premises liability cases, among others. Mr. Cetina has professional working proficiency in Spanish and has helped secure compensation for Spanish-speaking clients.Previously, he was an Associate at one of the largest defense firms in the country where he focused his nationwide practice in complex civil litigation, including employment and labor, class actions, and general liability. The bulk of his practice involved defending employment discrimination claims under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA"), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ("ADEA"), the Pregnancy Discrimination Act ("PDA"), the Illinois Human Rights Act ("IHRA"), and others, along with defending individual and class wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA") and similar laws, class actions under the Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”), qui tam claims, and whistleblower and retaliatory discharge claims, along with a variety of labor disputes. He maintained an employment-adjacent, quasi-commercial practice, including litigation involving trade secrets, non-competes, intellectual property, breach of contract, tenancy discrimination under the Fair Housing Act ("FHA"), and claims under the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance ("RLTO"). Finally, Mr. Cetina was regularly a member of rapid response trial management and appellate monitoring teams in high-exposure litigation.Mr. Cetina has performed pro bono work in disputes involving breach of contract, wage and hour, tenancy, and prisoners' rights under Section 1983.Mr. Cetina received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School (now known as University of Illinois Chicago School of Law) where he was published in and served as Managing Editor of the Law Review. He also participated in mock trial and Moot Court. During law school, Mr. Cetina assisted on multiple murder and narcotics trials as a 711-licensed Law Clerk at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in the Special Prosecutions Bureau - Gang Crimes Unit.He is admitted to practice in Illinois, the Northern District of Illinois, and the Southern District of Illinois.
