About Daniel Chaja

Daniel Chaja is a dynamic educational leader with successes in site administration, district administration, and teaching. He is currently the principal at Piedmont Middles School, a grades 6-8 school, in San Jose. Previously Daniel served in administrative and teaching roles at multiple other districts and schools, including Bellevue Union School District, Morgan Hill Unified School District, San Leandro Unified School District, and James Logan High School-New Haven Unified School District, among others. He has enriched educational environments by spearheading innovative programs, including instructional technology, academic intervention, district-wide benchmark and state assessments, athletic programs, restorative justice practices, student voice initiatives, and GATE programs. Daniel has also integrated technology into schools, including Chromebooks, tablets, and interactive whiteboards. Daniel has taught Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish at middle school and high school levels. Additionally, he taught English and Biology on a Fulbright Scholarship at a college prep school in the Czech Republic. Daniel’s international background extends to 56 countries on five continents, including biological and cultural eco-tours on the Amazon River. As a strong proponent of a growth mindset, Daniel is committed to continuous self-improvement and is seeking growth opportunities that extend thinking and practice.
