About Daniel Chen

I've been immersed in the contemporary art world since 2011. Currently I am the Director of Alisan Fine Arts in New York, a gallery that focuses on Chinese Diasporic Art with a 40+ year legacy. Prior to this role, I was Curator at Large for Sapar Contemporary Gallery (New York), and the Director of Chambers Fine Art (New York) from 2016-2022. I was also a partner in the gallery for three years, from 2020-2022. Over the last decade, I've has overseen large-scale public art projects in the US, China, Singapore and Hong Kong, and placed artworks in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, LACMA, The MFA Boston, The Denver Art Museum, M+ Museum Hong Kong, and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. I'm also a co-founder of Onboard Creative Inc, a Web3 curatorial brand. The company curates and creates digital art projects and advises established artists and content creators on Web3 strategies. As part of my role at Onboard I completed Springboard's Web Developer Bootcamp to hone my skills as a full-stack developer (HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python, SQL, ReactJS, NodeJS) and explore the development of digital tools for the creative community. Before transitioning into visual art, I spent nearly a decade as a touring musician and music producer. I was a member of the band Moonraker, Mike Doughty’s Band, and Nicole Atkins & The Sea, performing at venues across the US, Canada, Europe and the UK. I've performed on the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson; and performed at venues and festivals including Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks Amphitheater, the Nimes Roman Coliseum, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, O2 (London), and Roskilde (Denmark).
