About Daniel Chien

Daniel is a chartered electrical engineer (IPENZ CPEng) and certified project manager (PMI PMP) experienced in industrial projects such as petrochemical tank farms, wastewater treatment plant, rubber processing plant projects. He is certified with a Statement of Attainment for Hazardous Area Classification and Design for Electrical Equipment & Systems for Hazardous Areas – CT04351. He has over 13 years’ experience in electrical design and project management including 8 years’ experience in hazardous area. Engineering roles range from high level conceptual design to detail engineering design, construction monitoring and commissioning, upgrade and maintenance support. He is experienced in project management of green field and brown field projects as well as dealing with the various stakeholders ranging from clients to contractors to suppliers to ensure the project is delivered on time and in the fashion that is requested. He is also accustomed to support roles for production, quality, technical and maintenance personnel. He has worked on electrical design projects and is specifically tuned to the typical industrial plants’ unique operations, maintenance, setup and needs. Typical designs include hazardous area designs, safety system, instrumentation, pumps, soft-starters, variable speed drives, site power reticulation, emergency shutdown systems, SCADA systems, lightning protection, lighting design, telemetry, data communications, IT infrastructure, access control system, CCTV camera systems and energy conservation. He also contributes to standards development work with Standards NZ and Standards Australia and was recently nominated as New Zealand IEC Young Professional 2014.
