Current Role as a BSA/AML SAR/Case QC Analyst: • Conduct quality control (QC) reviews for SARs and cases deemed reasonable drafted by FIU investigators • Provide guidance to FIU investigators regarding the case analysis process, including the bifurcation of suspicious/non-suspicious or held/returned wires, the sufficient gathering of due diligence, the presentation of findings, and the justifications for whether activity is suspicious or reasonable, all presented in a clear and concise manner • Provide feedback to FIU investigators regarding their case reviews, including edits for clarity/accuracy, missing/incorrect subject information, incorrect count or dollar value of wire activity, incorrect account or bank information, and/or incorrect/inadequate reasons for drafting a SAR or deeming activity as reasonable • Keep FIU investigators up-to-date on the latest AML-related developments, including FATF’s updated lists of jurisdictions under increased monitoring and high-risk jurisdictions subject to a call for action and Russia’s increased use of intermediaries in other jurisdictions to evade sanctions relating to the war in Ukraine • Provided FIU investigators with additional free public resources besides Google for conducting due diligence, including https://orbisdirectory.bvdinfo.com, and 52WMB (can modify HTML code to reveal additional information) • Created a table in Excel using conditional formatting and nested IF-THEN statements showing changes in the latest update of country risk ratings released by the Risk Assessment Team compared to the prior version of country risk ratings, including whether ratings were raised, lowered, or unchanged • Created a table of Excel formulas using nested IF-THEN statements to simplify wire data (e.g, merging originator and beneficiary data from different MT103 and MT202 COV Sequence B fields into the same respective columns) for easier analysis from an AML perspective • Created Excel formulas to convert PivotTable data containing counterparty names, accounts, banks and their locations, and wire counts and dollar values into sentence format for the SAR narrative
