Background

About Daniel Ciba

Daniel Ciba received his Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance Studies at Tufts University. His current book project, Brief Deceptive Rainbows, focuses on adapting concepts from memory studies to reconsider the form of production histories exploring Tennessee Williams’s early works. He received his M.A. in Theatre from Villanova University in 2012, where he served as dramaturg for Marina Carr's Woman and Scarecrow. Last year he co-directed Diana Son’s Stop Kiss as a Tufts orientation show, had his original play Positions produced by Boiling Point Players, costume designed Eastern Nazarene College’s Mother Courage, and dramaturged for Flat Earth Theatre’s Greenhouse Playlab. He has presented research on queer performance, adaptation, and memory studies at the Indiana University's Graduate Theater Symposium, the Philadelphia Theatre Research Symposium, the Association of Theatre in Higher Education, the Tufts Graduate Humanities Conference, the Humanities Education and Research Association Conference, the South Eastern Theatre Conference Theatre Symposium, and most recently at the American Society for Theatre Research with a paper examining a reconsideration of the Broadway production of Camino Real. He currently serves as the Assistant Editor for the University of Iowa Press’s Studies in Theatre History and Culture series and the Conference Planner for ATHE’s Theory and Criticism Focus Group. He has been published in Praxis, Theater Research International, Etudes, New England Theatre Journal, and Theatre Symposium.
