About Daniel Covas

I am an experienced product liability and mass torts attorney defending fortune 500 corporations in wrongful death and personal injury cases with a particular focus on complex medical and scientific issues. My practice currently focuses on representing the North Carolina Department of Transportation in environmental law and regulatory matters as well as counseling and representing the agency on various contract and OSHA matters. My work includes all aspects of pretrial discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and scientific and medical expert witness development. I work with expert witnesses in various medical and scientific fields and prepare these witnesses for deposition and trial. I have particular experience working with psychologists, psychiatrists and neurologists on addiction issues. I have also prepared a wide variety of medical expert witnesses including oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and pulmonologists. I have successfully defended these expert witnesses at deposition. My experience also includes e-discovery, medical records collection, testimony, and record evidence analysis, and analysis of scientific and medical research. I also devote time to pro bono representation. As an active participant in Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Lawyer on the Line program, I have provided legal advice to numerous clients on issues ranging from debt collection to expunctions.
