About Daniel de Valter
I started my career in mining early with a bursary program completing work experience at Mount Isa Mines. I then began a school based apprenticeship, qualifying with a cert in mechanical engineering as a fitter and turner in 2013. I joined the Mine Rescue squad and became squad Captain in 2018. Rescue fuelled my passion for safety and I became a Site Safety Health Representative in 2015. In 2017 I changed careers, becoming a safety advisor and have continued to expand my knowledge and skills base. In 2020 I took on the role of Lead Advisor during the transition from Glencore Zinc and Copper into the Queensland Metals Business. I am enjoying the challenges this role brings, as well as the opportunities presented by this period of rapid change.
