About Daniel Doherty

With over two decades of experience in architectural design, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and lean construction, I am a dedicated advocate for digital transformation in the industrial construction sector. As Director of Integrated Digital Delivery at Aecon, I lead the implementation of innovative, data-driven solutions that enhance project delivery across North America. My expertise spans virtual design and construction (VDC), digital collaboration, and reality capture technologies, which I leverage to improve project performance, streamline stakeholder communication, and minimize waste and risk. I bring a strong foundation in both field and technical operations, having managed multidisciplinary teams and developed enterprise-wide strategies for technology adoption on projects exceeding $500 million in value. I hold a Bachelor of Technology in Technology Management from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), along with certifications in BIM and Lean Construction from the Associated General Contractors of America. I am also a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) and an active contributor to industry advancement through public speaking, curriculum development, and leadership roles in organizations such as Building Transformations and Building Smart Canada. I am committed to fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration, and to mentoring the next generation of construction technology professionals.
