Experienced Automation Engineer and Technical Lead with 9+ years delivering high-impact process automation solutions in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. My focus lies in batch process automation, with deep expertise in Spray Drying, API production, and DeltaV systems. I hold a PhD in Systems Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, where I focused on swarm UAV systems for search and rescue operations. Currently, I work at Hovione in Cork, Ireland, where I lead the design and implementation of advanced batch applications using DeltaV and related technologies. Promoted to Technical Lead in 2025, I’m now responsible for design strategy, project planning, and team coordination for automation projects, ensuring high standards from design through commissioning. I have deep expertise in: Batch control configuration (equipment modules, phases, operations, procedures) DeltaV (Batch, Live), OPC communication and system integration Library development for control modules and reusable logic VBA scripting and iFIX graphics for HMI customization Process simulation Alongside my professional work, I design tools to improve workflow and code quality, including a DDS code documentation generator. I’ve also created internal DeltaV training programs tailored to real-world operations. I'm an AI enthusiast exploring how machine learning can enhance process automation. In my free time, I build autonomous drone systems and experiment with embedded platforms. My PhD research involved the use of Particle Swarm Optimization and image processing to guide UAVs in search-and-rescue scenarios.
