About Daniel Egbe

Dr. Daniel Egbe is an adept leader with nearly 25 years in higher education, teaching, and administration. His empathetic and equitable approach has fostered a positive environment at Philander Smith University (PSU), where he has been the Chair of the Division of Social Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas for over seven years. Under his leadership, departments like criminal justice, political science, psychology, sociology, and social work have thrived, including the recent addition of the Criminal Justice program. Besides overseeing the division, Dr. Egbe teaches two courses each semester as an Associate Professor of Political Science and was honored as PSU’s “Faculty of the Year” in 2021 for his dedication to teaching excellence. Before PSU, Dr. Egbe’s illustrious career spanned several academic institutions, starting with his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in His teaching journey includes courses on political science, American government, and European politics at Mizzou, international relations at Westminster College, and heading the political science program at Lincoln University, a public HBCU. Arriving at PSU in 2007, he has become renowned for his expertise in international relations, comparative politics, and American government, recently co-authoring a significant book chapter on security issues in Africa and the United States. Dr. Egbe's commitment extends beyond teaching to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia. He has consistently supported and mentored international students at PSU, reflecting his dedication to inclusive education. His passion for student welfare, collaborative spirit with colleagues, and impactful leadership in higher education have significantly influenced students, alumni, and peers, establishing him as a respected figure in his field.
