Senior Generalist Scientist My strong points are integrating knowledge and bridging the gaps when looking at issues from multiple fields. Lately, as a process technology senior researcher with an affinity for modelling, the following topics in my career exposed me to a broad range of knowledge domains- being key technology owner for Colloid Food Technology at FrieslandCampina, responsible for identifying the needs of business groups, translating them into roadmap for mid and long term and ensuring that the projects are funded and delivered - studying the heat management inside polymer-based flexible electronic devices, where prototyping and process modelling was crucial - elucidating the phenomenon of exclusion zone formation, which had lacked understanding for decades (during my PhD on fundamental physics of colloidal suspensions)- combining supramolecular synthesis and analysis with soft lithography techniques working in clean room facilities - studying a combination of chemical engineering and material science in university after being selected for 5 years at the National Olympiads of Chemistry before higher education. BROAD RANGE, YET SPECIALIZED I have worked in fields combining product process robustness, food processing and structuring, thermal management, microfluidics, rheology, image analysis and particle tracking, colloids, soft matter, supramolecular chemistry and microfabrication, inorganic and organic chemistry. I gained experience in soft lithography, microfluidics, optical, fluorescent and confocal microscopy, SEM, EDAX, AFM, TEM, XRD, SLS, DLS, linear and non-linear rheology, DSC, TGA, NMR, Mass Spectrometry, FTIR, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Fluorescence Spectroscopy, analytical chemical methods, inorganic and organic synthesis, mechanical testing and food technologies. I have experience mostly working individually, but also as part of team projects and supervising individuals, as well as larger projects spanning multiple continents. BEYOND THE SCIENCE In my free time, I enjoy traveling with my wife and now also with my two sons or organizing trips with larger groups of friends and photography.
