About Daniel Flower

My passion for programming began when I was only twelve years old, and now with 27 years of solid programming experience under my belt, I continue to strive for self-improvement and mastery of my craft. I’ve worked in a variety of industries with a majority of my experience revolving around game technologies and business applications. I’ve participated in all aspects of software development from requirements capture with the client to submitting the final build. I count myself as an effective leader and have managed several large and diverse teams of developers. I have hands-on experience writing a broad spectrum of applications ranging from simple utilities to the many disciplines of video games on up to business apps including large-scale cloud-based SAS products. I also occasionally pursue a variety of other interest such as neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, simulations, compression techniques, advanced data structures, and so on. Over the years I’ve developed software for Windows, OSX, iOS, Android, Xbox / Xbox 360 (with Kinect), PlayStation 4 (with PSVR), cloud-based web applications running LAMP stacks on AWS, and more. I have experience with several game engines including Unreal Engine 4 and Unity3D as well as proprietary and home-brew engines. I’m also very comfortable writing multi-threaded software and have some experience with GPGPU computing. My favorite language is C++, but I’m also proficient with C/C#, x86 Assembler, Delphi, Java, Visual Basic / VBScript, and I’m at least familiar with half a dozen others. I’m also skilled with a variety of web technologies such as PHP, JavaScript / jQuery, HTML5 / CSS3, MySQL, and some specialized implementations like Node.js, Redis, Cordova/PhoneGap, and more. At this point in my career, learning new languages is almost trivial and I have a decade of experience creating and refining languages of my own design.
