I’m a firm believer in character-driven leadership. As a software development leader, I owe it to my team members to grow them and celebrate their wins upwards, but to also shelter them from anything coming down that could get in the way of their success. I motivate those on my team by creating career paths and by supporting them in meeting their goals. I also approach problems with a willingness to learn new skills and try creative solutions. I recognize I don’t always have the answers immediately, but I surround myself with smart, talented people and value others’ contributions. And probably most importantly, I’m not afraid to tackle the hard stuff. When a project needs a tool that no one else does or it has a lot of unknowns, I’m the one they come to.
