About Daniel Geen

Fracturing my ankle during my senior year of high school at McQuaid Jesuit introduced me to the field of physical therapy as I attempted to return to the court. Timing was not on my side so I missed the rest of the season but I found what I wanted to do as a profession. I attended Ithaca College and continued with athletics both on the football field and track and field. Graduating from IC lead me to UR medicine as a staff PT then eventually to an outpatient setting in a local PT company. There I met my eventual business partner Bill Jackson. We had a similar philosophy so in 1987 GVPT became a reality. GVPT was started as a response to seeing outpatient PT services needing a more individualized, personal care that was lacking in the environment at the time. We have grown to four outpatient locations and we work out of six YMCA as well providing aquatic and land based therapy. Our emphasis continues to be on exceptional patient care and a responsible partner in transitioning patients to a more independent gym program. I enjoy getting to know the patients I treat and understand what their interest and passions are in order to serve them more completely. Over my 30 years of experience I’ve realized that helping others physically is closely integrated with psychological and spiritual well-being too. I can more personally relate to the rehab process as I’ve had several knee surgeries over 20 years followed by a full knee replacement 8 years ago. The process of recovering was challenging but life changing as I feel I have a new lease on life as a result. I presently spend all my free time helping to raise my eight children with my spectacular wife Joanne. Life is hectic but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
